Fertilizing and Soil Testing

Not surprisingly plants as living and breathing beings need supplemental nutrients just like us. Without proper nutrient balances plants can grow slow, not bloom, get diseases, and even die. We offer soil testing and organic and sustainable fertilizing programs to help keep your gardens healthy.

Disease and Pest Management

Plants and their wonderful ability to collect energy from the sun attract many creatures great and small to consume them. Anything from the largest deer, to the smallest spider mite, or fungus can do incredible damage to a beautiful garden. Controlling pests requires knowledge of what plants to avoid planting in certain places, which plants help repel pests, and in a worst case scenario what types of natural pesticides to use to keep them away.

Invasive Species Control

Non-native species that cause damage, out compete native plants, or are otherwise harmful are called invasive species. They can do serious damage to structures, and out-compete or adversely impact species that you want in your garden. Some of the worst offenders locally are porcelain berry, bindweed, dogs-strangling vine, multiflora rose,  Japanese honeysuckle, and bittersweet among many others.
